So where’s all the solar?
A message for builders and architects:
Full Solar Homes are the opportunity of a lifetime
to take the lead in your market. We’re here to
help you.
A Full Solar Home represents a new value paradigm
for housing. As demonstrated by our interactive
calculator, this is already a massive shift, and
becomes more valuable as energy prices rise.
The growing share of electric vehicles will reduce
demand for oil by 50% within a decade. You don’t
need to be an economist to see that this means
continually rising fuel prices, which will only
accelerate adoption of electric vehicles. Meanwhile,
utilities are adding more renewables but there is no
evidence that electricity rates will come down.
Sooner or later, any home that does not produce
as much energy as the home and vehicles use will
be as obsolete as a home without indoor
plumbing.
Full Solar Homes can be built of wood or steel
framing, blocks or poured concrete, whatever suits
you and your market.
Architects: the design approaches shown on the
Design page demonstrate that a Full Solar Home
can work in a small footprint anywhere snow load is
not an issue, meaning where about 75% of new
homes are built in the U.S. these days. (Where snow
is an issue, you need a steeper roof and more
panels.)
The “flat roof” approach is a cool solution, ideal for
Florida and the southern half of Texas, for example,
up to about 30º North latitude before you need to
expland the footprint to fit more panels.
Of course the “flat roof” is really two minimum-pitch
planes so the ridge is only about 7” high and the roof
drains to the back corners for easy water
management.
A “flat roof” plan works for any orientation of the
house while solar panels face south. A solar array
could even be configured for a house on a corner lot.
The short parapet wall assures the solar panels are
not visible from the street.
The 10º-sloped roof approach accomodates even
more panels on the same footprint. We see plenty of
opportunities for creative architects to add some
style to these minimalist platforms.
In general, the squarer the footprint, the easier it is
to fit more solar panels. You probably already have
plenty of floorplans that can be made into Full Solar
Homes.

Take the lead in your market with Full Solar
Homes before someone else does.
Builders: being first in your area with a Full
Solar Home makes you the market leader that
everyone else will eventually follow. You’ll sell as
many Full Solar Homes as you can build, forever.
You don’t want to be second.
The mass builders are not going to switch to Full
Solar Homes in the middle of building out their latest
cookie-cutter subdivisions. And when they do, they
can’t afford to offer Full Solar Homes too close to the
prices of their conventional stock.
This gives you and your customer a big advantage.
This is the opportunity of a lifetime for
independent builders to grab market share.
We’re telling the world how to get the solar for
the best cost by including it in new construction.
With pre-wiring and detailed instructions, installation
of all the solar takes two days or less. Everything on
the roof just plugs together and bolts to the rails. Let
the customer pay the distributor invoice prices for
the hardware, and charge a fair price for the labor.
You make money and no one can undersell you
on solar. Your customers get the best possible
value.
Many independent builders turned to remodels and
rehabs after the last housing bust. We can show you
how you can build Full Solar Homes fast and
efficiently with a core crew of 4 to 6.
If you currently build to order, or build to sell, we’ll
rework your favorite plan into a Full Solar Home
with a “flat roof” or 10º-sloped roof. We’ll provide 3D
renderings with the maximum number of panels that
will fit, and expected performance in your in your
area. In most cases it will be plenty for the home and
two vehicles.
We provide a complete solar system design specific
to the client and site, including installation and wiring
plans.
